1. Eat Healthy…..eating a healthy diet can help reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. It helps you achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Make the produce isle at the market your first stop. Make sure you include your grains, such as brown rice. I also love oat bran, and have it every morning with nonfat yogurt. Nuts and seeds are a great source of protein and are high in Omega 3, as is salmon, tuna, sardines, and other seafood
2. Stop eating processed foods, sodas, and artificial sweeteners…..Processed foods include packaged high-calorie snack foods such as chips and candies, breads and pastas made with refine white flour instead of whole grains, processed meats, packaged cakes and cookies, and sugary breakfast cereals.
No artificial sweetners! They are cancer causers, plain and simple. If you use any kind of sugar substitute, try Stevia.
Stop drinking soda. Sugary soft drinks are the biggest single source of empty calories in the American diet.
3. Get active….. It can be anything…..walking your dog for 20 minutes a day, a bike ride, a yoga class….anything that gets you moving. Physical activity is essential to a healthy lifestyle. The health and beauty benefits are astonishing.
4.Stop smoking……. Smoking compromises your body in every way. Stopping smoking can save your life.
5. Get 8 hours of sleep a night……. Many of us want to sleep as little as possible—or feel like we have to. But just as getting active and eating healthy are essential for optimal health and happiness, so is sleep. The quality of your sleep affects your productivity, emotional balance, creativity, and even your weight. No other activity delivers so many benefits with so little effort! It also helps keep you beautiful.
